The pre-African Post

So. Let it first be known that I am not a blogger. I don't know how to be a blogger, I don't know what it means to be a blogger, and I most certainly do not identify myself as there-of.

That being said, here's my blog.

It has been brought to my attention on numerous occasions that when one goes traveling, the respectable thing to do for family members and friends (?) is to create a blog documenting said trip and the happenings which ensue. So, to please these individuals, and to make it so that only those who want to know what I'm doing while abroad have to read about it, this blog was born.

4 weeks from today I will begin my journey over to Durban, South Africa. This journey will include over 30 hours of travel, 4 different planes, and one very tired and likely crabby Abby. (It rhymes, we get it.)

I still don't think I've grasped the fact that I leave so soon. I've only had one day of being nervous, mostly I'm just excited. I just don't know how to really wrap my head around how extremely different the next 5 months of my life are going to be.

I do know however, that I am extremely thankful that my roommate Patty O'Keefe will be right there with me throughout the whole adventure.

I suppose that's all for now... until Africa. eep.
